Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) in collaboration with Tir Yimyim and Bookipedia, Mokokchung organised a Clean Election Movement programme under the theme ‘Clean election’ at Yimyu Baptist Church, Mokokchung on June 10.
The event witnessed the collaboration of two programmes into one, where emphasis was given to promoting Clean Election and preserving the Ao language.
Speaking on the theme, Rev Dr Noklen Longkumer, Convenor, ABAM Clean Election Movement stated that, for a state to progress, it is the power of its citizens and not the Government while further adding that the citizens have been deprived of their rights due to corruption.
He asserted that people who don't want to change and think of election as a way to earn a livelihood is wrong. Clean Election would be successful only if old and bad habits are set aside, he added.
Earlier, K Temjen Jamir, Editor, Tir Yimyim exhorted briefly on Ao language and clean election, while shorts speeches were delivered by Rev Dr M ar Pongen, Executive Secretary, ABAM and Vice President, Ao Students Conference (AKM).
As part of preserving and giving limelight to the Ao language, the winners for spoken word poetry competition and solo competition in Ao conducted by Tir Yimyim and Bookipedia were felicitated.
The winners of spoken word poetry competition were 1st Lanukokla, Khensa; 2nd Mejapiyong Jamir, Ungma and Imnichetla Jamir, Mangmetong; 3rd Olanger Lkr, Ungma and Wangshimongla Imchen, Kupza. Solo competition: 1st Taliyanger, Salulamang; 2nd Bendang Imchen, Mongchen; 3rd C Bendangakum Kichu, Aliba and Imnamen A Kichu, Chungtia.
