Abu Metha appointed as Associate Vice President of Athletics Federation of India

Advisor to the Nagaland Chief Minister, Abu Metha has been appointed as Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India.

In a letter dated July 24, Adille J Sumariwalla, President of AFI informed the Advisor of his nomination to the Federation on behalf of the  AFI Executive Council.

“I congratulate you on your nomination as Associate Vice President of Athletics Federation of India and look forward to your cooperation and guidance in the implementation of AFI policies for the development of Athletics in future,” the letter stated.

Meanwhile, on August 8, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took to Twitter to convey his congratulations to Metha.  “Congratulations, Shri @abumetha  for being appointed as Associate Vice President of Athletic Federation of India. I wish you an outstanding tenure. Grateful to  @afiindia  & Shri  @Adille1  for recognizing Nagaland & the NE in our endeavour to promote athletics & sports in the country,” Rio tweeted.

Abu Metha thanked the Federation for its belief in him. He assured his commitment in working towards the nation building process and for the cause of athletics and sports in the country.
