Abu Metha nominated as delegate for Paris Olympics

DIMAPUR, JULY 22 (MExN): Abu Metha, Associate Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), has been nominated by the federation to serve as a delegate for the upcoming Paris Olympics Games 2024. The Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.

In a formal letter, AFI Secretary Ravinder Chaudhry highlighted Metha’s expertise and experience, emphasizing how they will significantly contribute to the success of the Indian delegation at the Games.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also extended his congratulations to Metha, acknowledging that his involvement will greatly benefit sports and athletics in India, particularly in Nagaland.

Metha’s notable roles include serving as the Working President of the North East Olympic Association and as the Team Leader of the Indian contingent at the World Under-22 Athletics Championships in Nairobi, Kenya. Under his leadership, India hosted the South Asian Cross-Country Championships in Kohima, Nagaland. Metha is also the Convenor of the National Mountain Running Committee under AFI and World Athletics.

Recently, Nagaland hosted the North East Olympic Games under Metha’s convenorship, where the state team secured a commendable second place in the overall medals tally.
