A five-day ‘academic reading and writing workshop’ for PhD scholars commenced at the Department of Sociology, Nagaland University on September 22.

Lumami, September 22 (MExN): A five-day ‘academic reading and writing workshop’ for PhD scholars commenced at the Department of Sociology, Nagaland University on September 22. 
The workshop, organised by the department in association with RC01: Theory and Practice in Sociology of the Indian Sociological Society (ISS), was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof JK Patnaik at the Department's conference hall.

The inaugural session was chaired by Prof Temjensosang of the Department of Sociology. Prof Satish Deshpande, former Head of the Department of Sociology at the Delhi School of Economics, is the resource person for the workshop.

Prof PS Vivek, Treasurer of the Indian Sociological Society, was also present on the occasion.

In his address, Dr Suraj Beri, the Organising Secretary, highlighted the core objective of the workshop, emphasising the need to invest in reading and writing in academics.

Chief Guest Prof JK Patnaik remarked on the fortune of the participants to be involved in the professional-enriching programme and encouraged them to make the most of it.

The workshop has 32 participants from various departments of Nagaland University. Dr Dipika Paul proposed the vote of thanks.
