Seeks employment termination of 11 people
Dimapur, February 21 (MExN): Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland today alleged that various vacancies at Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation Limited (NIDC), a Government of Nagaland undertaking, have been filled up by flouting every recruitment norm.
As per RTI filed by ACAUT member at the NIDC, 2 posts of Deputy Manager, 2 posts of Assistant Manager, 4 posts of Junior Asst-cum-Computer Asst, 1 post of Accounts Assist-cum-Computer Assistant, 1 post of Stenographer, and 1 post of Peon were filled up from 2014-2016 “flouting every recruitment norms,” stated a press release from Media Cell, ACAUT Nagaland.
It further said according to NIDC’s reply to the RTI, no advertisement was given in any of the newspapers for the vacant posts, “which raises the question as to how the candidates were actually called to apply for the job when no advertisement was issued.” ACAUT also questioned how the candidates were even selected when there was no interview.
“This is a classic case of backdoor appointment, with imprints of nepotism everywhere. These arbitrary appointments are not only illegal but hinder the promotional avenues of in-service employees as well, in this case NIDC, which is discriminatory and unfair,” the release stated.
The ACAUT Nagaland demanded that the people who have been appointed to the posts be immediately terminated and status quo restored.
“The issue of backdoor appointment is not a closed chapter for the ACAUT Nagaland. The battle has barely begun,” it asserted.
