Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): The Naga civil society and business frontal organisations under the aegis of the Naga Council has expressed “deep appreciation” for NSCN (IM)’s gesture in issuing “Rules and guidelines for protection of the general public against illegal tax 2013”.
“This is in tune with our request to all Naga political groups to ensure transparency in taxation matters and the manner in which NSCN-IM is addressing the issue is a step in the right direction,” stated a press release from the co-convenor and secretary of the Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT). “Tax exemption for new enterprises and local commercial vehicle owners for 1 year, tax exemption from local consumers for non-commercial purposes, agro products, indigenous products, etc are confidence building measures which will go a long way in reassuring the public.”
However, the ACAUT would like to have some points, such as multiple taxation and dealership system, to be further clarified by the organisation “as confusion is prevailing as to the exact nature of the publication”.
