Dimapur, May 1 (MExN): ACAUT Nagaland visited Immanuel College in Dimapur on April 23 in continuance of its awareness drive in various colleges. A press release informed that Simon Kelio, ACAUT Nagaland Liaison convener in his speech stated that students are the powerhouse to disseminate information.
Meanwhile, Joel Nillo Kath, ACAUT Vice-Chairman, said, “when we buy pork, we have already paid taxes to different factions…Money taken away from us have been used to buy mansions and expensive cars; no transparency and no accountability can be seen.”
Dr. Kekhugha Muru, ACAUT Convener, RTI Cell began speaking with the quote, “To oppose corruption is the highest obligation of patriotism.” He cited that in some districts, the contractors are left only with 25% of money after various deductions from various quarters, while asking “how can we expect contractors to give quality works with such little money.” He alleged that politicians, bureaucrats, technocrats and judiciary are all equally corrupted.
Further, Solomon K. Awomi, ACAUT general secretary challenged the students if they were ready to question their parents or relatives when they were found indulging in corrupt activities. ACAUT Public Mobilization Convener Tia Longchar also pointed out that every district pays tax to one group or the other and it has become like a turf war between different factions for territories/ districts like the old Mafias of the United States. Kevitho Kera, ACAUT Social Media Convener and Media Co-convener also challenged the students, “If Jesus can use the little boy to feed five thousand people; Jesus can still use young people today to touch the lives of not only thousands but lakhs of people. Just bring whatever big or little you have to God and he will use it like he used the little boy’s loaves and fish.”
ACAUT Nagaland is willing to visit more colleges; therefore, principal and administration of interested colleges can contact Tia Longchar at 9863144588.
