Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): The Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID), in collaboration with the National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM), Nagaland region, celebrated International Women’s Day at the Assisi Auditorium, Lakeview Colony, Dimapur on March 7 under the theme “Give to Gain.”
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Neena Dutta, DG Elect of Lions District 322D, Lions Club International, highlighted the importance of education and women’s empowerment. She said International Women’s Day is not merely a day of celebration but also an occasion to recognise the struggles, sacrifices and achievements of women in society.

Emphasising the role of education, Dr Dutta encouraged women to dream big and believe in their potential. She also acknowledged the dignity and contributions of women within families and society, while appreciating the efforts of organisations working to uplift women, particularly those from weaker sections. “Educating a woman means educating an entire generation,” she remarked.
The speaker of the day, K Ela, Director of Prodigals’ Home, spoke on the strength and resilience of women and underscored the importance of mutual support among them. Referring to the theme, she encouraged participants to uplift one another to build stronger communities. She also emphasised the role of mothers in shaping family well-being and urged parents to ensure the safety and nurturing of children.
Advocate Priya, another speaker, encouraged women to be courageous and confident, stressing the importance of determination, self-belief and unity among women to overcome life’s challenges.
The celebration provided a platform for participants to showcase their talents and reaffirm commitments towards promoting women’s rights and development. Around 350 participants attended the programme.
