
Changtongya, December 3 (MExN): International Day of People with Disabilities was observed at Changtongya Town on December 3 at BDO Office Conference Hall, Changtongya. Organized by Grace Society CBR Forum (Community Based Rehabilitation) Changtongya, the programme was held with the theme “Achieving 17 goals for the future we want, which draws attention to the 17 sustainable development goals and how these goals can create more inclusive equitable world for persons with disabilities.”
Dr. Medemmayang, Medical Superintendent, Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, Mokokchung was the chief guest. He encouraged the various stakeholders of the society to be responsible by bringing the disabled community to the main stream and adopt inclusive policy and attitude towards the disabled community by giving them platform and privilege to showcase their talents.
He thanked the Grace Society CBR Forum for their initiative work for the upliftment of the people with disabilities in the area by encouraging and helping them in facilitating various schemes and entitlements. He encouraged the participants and said that we have a long way to go in understanding the disable issues, and thus this should be a new beginning as we have neglected them for a long time.
APRO Changtongya Meyisusu Jamir in a press release said that exhortation was delivered by Chumlamo, Humtsoe, SDO (Civil) Changtongya, Chuchuyimlang Village Council and Narola Imchen, Asso. Pastor (Women) CTBA. Invocation by Rev. T. Yanger Pastor, Longchara Baptist Church, Changtongya Town while vote of thanks was delivered by Chubawati, Coordinator of Grace Society CBR Forum.
Special song by Reshilepzuk and a life testimony by Tainla Temjen was presented form the disabled person (PWDs). The programme was chaired by Ainla Ozükum, Child Pastor of Tzumokkong Baptist Church, Changtongya Town.
