Advisor for Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation, Government of Nagaland, Daochier I Imchen, has assured that he would serve all citizens of the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency irrespective of village or political affiliation.

“I am not an MLA for Mangmetong Village or for the BJP party alone, but for the entire Koridang constituency,” Imchen stated while addressing a thanksgiving programme organised by the Mangmetong Village Council at Panchayat Bhavan, Mangmetong village, on Saturday.

Thanking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for reposing faith in him and the people of Koridang for their support during the recent bye-election, Imchen reflected that the past few months had been filled with personal hardships and challenges but expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.

Describing the Assembly seat as a “valuable responsibility,” he said, “I stand to serve in truth,” while appealing to the people to continue guiding and supporting him. He further said that even those who did not vote for him should feel free to approach him for assistance.
“Do not be afraid to come to me for help. I am always ready to assist,” he stated.

Imchen said he would avoid making unrealistic promises and focus on practical and achievable initiatives during his tenure. He assured that he would continue the developmental works and commitments undertaken by his late father, former minister Imkong L Imchen, while also pursuing new initiatives.

Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for inducting him into the government on June 5 and assigning him the portfolios of Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation, Imchen said he had accepted the responsibility with humility and would work to the best of his ability.

On youth empowerment, he announced that Rs 20 lakh has been earmarked under the LADP  to support deserving and skilled youths. He informed that around 20 youths would be selected during the current financial year through consultations with party leaders and village councils, with focus on sustainable livelihood projects.

Earlier, Mangmetong Village Council Chairman Watitemjen, in his welcome address, thanked the people of Koridang constituency for their support in the bye-election and acknowledged the contributions of various political parties, organisations, and individuals.

He noted that Koridang constituency had elected candidates from Mangmetong on six occasions, including five terms represented by late Imkong L Imchen and now by Daochier I Imchen. He urged the Advisor to remain humble and work not only for Koridang but for the welfare of the Nagas in general.

Short speeches were delivered by representatives of political parties, village councils, and various organisations.
