Satami, January 11 (MExN): G Ikuto Zhimomi, Advisor to Land Resources Department, Government of Nagaland, addressed the 42nd Biennial Session of the Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) at Satami village January 10.

As the fifth MLA from the 34 Aghunato Assembly Constituency in 62 years, Ikuto highlighted the contributions of numerous bureaucrats and officers from the area, naming several who have served in key positions across various departments and brought laurels to Aghunato, stated a press release.

Ikuto underscored the vast opportunities available in the government sector, pointing out thousands of vacancies waiting to be filled exclusively through competitive examinations. He firmly ruled out any backdoor entries or political appointments, ensuring a merit-based process for all.

“Exams are open to everyone. If you aspire to become an officer or achieve greatness, study wholeheartedly,” Ikuto urged the students, inspiring them to prepare diligently and seize these opportunities.

The Advisor encouraged students to move beyond relying solely on government jobs and instead pursue entrepreneurship for greater self-reliance. Highlighting the state’s employment challenges, he noted that Nagaland has approximately 70,000 registered unemployed individuals. “Adapt to systemic changes and become self-reliant,” he urged.

He also drew attention to key state government initiatives supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and vulnerable citizens, including the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance scheme for business startups and the CM Health Insurance Scheme to aid the poor and needy.
