AG calls for corruption free office

Kohima, November 1 (MExN): A weeklong celebration of vigilance awareness week 2011 was inaugurated in the office of the Accountant General, Nagaland Kohima on October 31 by VK Girjavallahbhan, IA&AS, Accountant General Nagaland. The celebration will conclude on November 5 during which various programmes and workshops on vigilance awareness will be held to evolve an action plan to achieve the target of corruption free office.  In his inaugural address, the Accountant General exhorted staff and officers of his office to unite to achieve the goal of becoming a corruption free office to serve the society in a better and more efficient way. Quoting the Comptroller and Auditor General of India he said that all should maintain impeccable integrity and transparency in their official dealings. While we move forward by stopping all such practices, we should be transparent and should be open to any type of scrutiny to prove it, he added.
While the corrupt must be dealt with strictly, the honest need to be protected, he said. Quoting the CVC, he said, while reaffirming our commitment to fight corruption during observance of the week, we need o enlist the support and participation of all stake holder and seek active cooperation from all in fighting the menace of corruption.
Elaborating on the theme ‘Participative Vigilance’ he said the fight against corruption cannot be won in isolation and can be won only through active participation of all stake holders. He summed up by quoting Gandhi’s word ‘you must be the change you wish to see the world.
Later he led the staff to pledge to commit and reaffirm themselves to serve the nation with utmost integrity, and without fear and favour.
