AHAM, GSU demands probe into Gurugram deaths

Tura, June 30 (MExN): Two Tura-based Garo organisations— A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) and the Garo Students’ Union (GSU) have appealed for thorough investigation into the mysterious deaths of two youths from Dimapur in Gurugram.

On Tuesday, AHAM President Champion R Sangma wrote to the Prime Minister raising concerns about the racial discrimination and negligence by the staff of ALFA Hospital, Gurgaon where one of the youths, Rosy Sangma had passed away. It also referred to a series of video clips that were reportedly taken by the brother of the deceased, Samuel Sangma, and his subsequent unexplained death and urged the Government of India to seriously look into the matter and deliver justice.

GSU: In a separate press release, GSU President Tengsak G Momin urged the Special Police Unit for North-Eastern Region (SPUNER) to expedite investigation into both the deaths. The release stated that several videos and voice recordings which were reportedly recorded by Samuel Sangma have been going viral on the social media and “clearly shows one doctor assaulting Samuel Sangma” who had alleged that his relative’s death was caused by ‘medical mistreatment.’

It also requested governments of the northeastern states to raise their voices and pursue the case to its logical end.
Further, the GSU extended condolences to the bereaved families and expressed gratitude to the Naga students unions in Delhi and others for their voluntary assistance.
