Dimapur, November 14 (MExN): The Aghunato Areami Union Dimapur (AAUD) celebrated Ahuna Festival’ with the theme “Celebrating the essence of our rich traditions....” at Hukato Naga Private Residence at Ikishe Village, Dimapur.
A press note issued by Hukavi T. Yepthomi said that the festival was observed with rich display of cultural and traditional dances, folksongs and folklores, and traditional acts of various short stories depicting the ancestral life styles in its originality from Lizutomi Union Dimapur.. The celebration was hosted by Mr & Mrs. Hukato Naga.
The host Hukato called upon the people to lead a good and better living with Jesus Christ as a personal saviour. Among others Hekhevi Achumi of Khumishi village related the significance and tenets of Ahuna festival, its origin and various practices. Hewoto Awomi, MLA, Ghaspani-I who hails from Khetoi village, K. Hollohon, MLA, Ghaspani-II, who hails from Khukishe village, Ihezhe Zhimomi, former Minister and senior most member of the Union who also hails from Khetoi village and Tokheho Yepthomi, MLA and Congress Legislature Party Leader who hails from Luvishe village addressed the gathering.
The original “Ahuna” was prepared and cooked and distributed to all the gathering. The festival was attended among others by all the officers including Hushili, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Viccahse, IPS, IGP and all the well wishers and in laws including Nuklutoshi, MLA.
Leshelimi, a women’s group presented folk tunes.
Rev. Mulato Chishi, Missionary pronounced invocation, Rev. S. Vitoshe Swu, Executive Secretary, WSBAK conducted mass prayer meeting for the people of the Union and the area and Rev. Dr. Yehevi Zhimomi, Pastor, Thahekhu Baptist Church pronounced benediction and for Ahuna feast.
Shikuto Zalipu, Vice Chairman, AAUD conducted the formal programmme as chairperson, K. Ahovi Sema, Chairman delivered an introductory speech and Hukavi T. Yepthomi, Secretary highlighted the overall activities, programmmes aims and objects of the Union.

‘Preserve our rich cultural heritage’
Dimapur, November 14 (MExN): The Satoi Range Public Union Dimapur celebrated Ahuna, the post harvest festival of Sumi tribe at the residence of Phushika Awomi, Thilixu Block-IV, Dimapur on November 14. Kaito G. Aye, Minister, Road & Bridges, Government of Nagaland was the chief guest of the occasion that witnessed a large gathering.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest greeted the gathering and said that such is an occasion for all to come together and share the joy while also strengthen/encourage one another to take up responsibility to uplift the community in general. Stating that cohesion among the members can take the union forward to a higher level and would pave the way for the community to prosper, he called on the gathering work together with positive mindset in the interest of not only Satoi Range public living in Dimapur but for the society as a whole. He reiterated that our rich cultural heritage must be preserved and passed on to younger generation as culture itself a part of education in one life and its important that our children know the roots of their tradition. He also called on the congregation not to succumb to ones shortcomings but join hands and strive to progress.
Delivering a short speech, Nishela Vihoshe, joint secretary, WSTH called on the members of the union to continue to uphold the image good of Satoi Range. Former president, SRPUD, Kaiho Zhimo shared the significance of the festival. Presentation to folk dance and songs marked the celebration. Alobo Naga and his friends also presented specials songs. Shitovi Hokiye, vice president, SRPUD chaired the program. Rev. Yekishe Awomi, Principal, NBC said the invocation. Phushika, host of the festivals delivered welcome address while Phukato Zhimomi, president SRPUD proposed vote of thanks.
