Solar home lighting systems distributed to 150 households across Tobu Block A, Tobu Block B, and Tobu Block C during the programme conducted at Newman Higher Secondary School, Tobu in Mon district on March 30.
Dimapur, March 31 (MExN): The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) organised solar home lighting system distribution programmes across Peren and Mon districts in Nagaland, benefiting 250 rural households as part of its ongoing renewable energy initiative.
Earlier in phases, 550 households were solar electrified in the last year, stated a press release received here. In the last two years, AIDA has solar electrified 800 rural households in Nagaland alone, it informed.
To date, AIDA has solar-electrified 2,150 rural homes across four northeastern states Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, and Assam advancing renewable energy adoption and climate resilience in underserved communities.
During the programme held on March 23 at St Xavier College, Jalukie, Peren district, solar lighting systems were distributed to 100 rural households from Nzuana, Laluang Lodi and Bamsiakilwa villages.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Anna Lungbila Bibiana, HR Manager and Coordinator of Solar Programmes AIDA highlighted AIDA’s commitment to expanding access to clean energy while promoting women’s empowerment. The programme also featured experience-sharing sessions by trained solar engineers, alongside active participation from village leaders, reflecting strong community engagement.

The second distribution programme was conducted on March 30 at Newman Higher Secondary School, Tobu in Mon district, where solar home lighting systems were distributed to 150 households across Tobu Block A, Tobu Block B, and Tobu Block C.
The special guest, Er R Mhao Humtsoe, EAC, Tobu, lauded the initiative and emphasized the importance of such interventions in remote areas. He encouraged the community to acquire diverse skills and urged AIDA to expand its outreach to more villages in the future.
Speaking as guest of honour, Rev Fr Dr Roy George SDB, Executive Director and Chief Functionary of AIDA, reiterated that the solar initiative is part of a broader mission of AIDA to promote sustainable development and enhance energy access across underserved regions of Nagaland.
Dr Bibiana Lungbila, HR Manager of AIDA, stressed the importance of women becoming agents of change and economic empowerment.
Both programmes witnessed participation from local communities, solar engineers and institutional partners, the release stated. Experience-sharing sessions by trained solar engineers and beneficiaries highlighted the transformative impact of clean energy solutions in improving quality of life, reducing dependence on conventional fuels, and promoting environmental sustainability.
This initiative aligns with AIDA’s broader vision of delivering renewable energy solutions to rural households and addressing partly the environmental issues, thereby contributing to inclusive and sustainable development, it stated.
