Dimapur, February 13 (MExN): The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) - Don Bosco, SBI Gram Seva programme, Dimapur, along with its five adopted villages— Khriezephe, Diezephe, Tsithrongse, Urra and Bade, conducted a folk song/dance competition to mark World Radio Day on Monday.
During the competition, the joint first position was won by Tsithrongse and Bade Village, second position by Khriezephe Village and third position by Diezephe Village, informed a press release.
Congratulating the winners, AIDA-SBI Gram Seva thanked them for coming together under the theme ‘Radio and Peace.’ It stated that radio is a powerful medium for celebrating humanity in all its diversity and constitutes a platform for democratic discourse. It has the ability to reach across borders and can become a valuable source of information where reliable news is scarce, it said.
Highlighting about the declaration of World Radio Day as an international day in 2012, the release further stated that less importance is given to the event in the present day. However, radio plays a very unique position in bringing communities together and foster positive dialogue for change. There were times when people listened and it provided diversity of views and voices needed to address the challenges faced by the communities in general, it added.
