Nagaland Governor-designate Ajay Kumar Bhalla will be sworn in as Governor of Nagaland on August 25 at Raj Bhavan, Kohima, at 10:30 AM.
Bhalla has been given additional charge of Nagaland on August 16, following the demise of Governor La Ganesan the previous day in Chennai.He arrived in the State capital on Saturday and was received by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and other officials.
Born on November 26, 1960, Bhalla is a retired Indian bureaucrat and an IAS officer of the 1984 batch belonging to the Assam-Meghalaya cadre. He hails from Jalandhar, Punjab.
He previously served as the Home Secretary of India for nearly five years until August 22, 2024, and was appointed as Governor of Manipur on December 24, 2024.
Bhalla arrived at Dimapur airport on August 23 to commence his new assignment in the State.
He was received by a delegation led by Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio and accorded a Rashtriya Salute by the 15th Mahila NAP (IR) upon his arrival, stated a DIPR report.
