Dimapur | September 18
The Government of India's representative in the Indo-Naga political talks, AK Mishra was in Nagaland to meet the top leadership of the NSCN (IM).
According to official sources, Mishra landed in Dimapur on September 17 and met the NSCN (IM) leadership, led by Ato Kilonser, Th Muivah the same day in Dimapur.
Mishra, who was accompanied by an official of the Ministry of Home Affairs, left for Delhi the next day.
Only a few top members of the Collective Leadership were said to be privy to what was assumed to be a highly confidential meeting. Alongwith Muivah, there were the Vice President Tongmeth Wangnao, NSCN (IM) Army Chief Anthony Shimray and a few unnamed leaders.
What was discussed in the meeting remained shrouded in confidentiality.
The sources said that it was not first such 'informal' meeting between the two entities. Despite the perceived souring of relations following the infamous and unachieved October 31 deadline of 2019, backchannel talks have continued.
