AKM cancels Teachers’ Day prog in solidarity with CoRRP resolution

Mokokchung, September 3 (MExN): The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has announced the cancellation of its 64th Teachers’ Day programme scheduled for 2025, citing the ongoing impasse over the reservation policy under review by the 5-Tribe Committee.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the student body informed the student community, teaching fraternity, and the general public that the decision was taken in adherence to the collective resolution of 5-Tribe Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP).

The Committee had earlier resolved to abstain from participating in all State Government functions until the matter is addressed and resolved.

While acknowledging the inconvenience caused, the AKM sought the understanding of all concerned, maintaining that the move was an expression of solidarity with the resolution adopted by the 5-Tribes Committee.

In the announcement was signed by President Lanutoshi Aier and Education Secretary Lanulemba Longchar,  the Conference , however, underscored its continuing regard for educators.

“AKM acknowledges and appreciates the invaluable contributions of the teaching community towards society. While we are unable to hold the formal programme this year, our respect and gratitude for teachers remain undiminished,” it stated.
