Dimapur, April 13 (MExN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has informed transporters, business community and public of Dimapur that under the initiative of DCCI, a new transporter union has been formed with the nomenclature ‘All Nagaland Goods Movers Union (ANGMU).’
DCCI, Vice President, V Shikuto Achumi in a press release stated that the formation of the new transport union comes against the backdrop of the September 25, 2021 joint meeting convened by Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce & Industry and DCCI wherein the then Dimapur Transport Union was banned and subsequently dissolved.
The formation of ANGMU was necessitated as there is an urgent need to have a transporter union to facilitate smooth flow of goods and essential commodities into the state of Nagaland, especially the commercial hub Dimapur, it stated.
According to the DCCI, the ANGMU will also act as a bridge between transporters, traders and various government agencies to ensure and streamline supply of goods and essential commodities and to check random illegal taxation, which is ultimately responsible for price inflation.
It also stated that DCCI will strictly monitor the functioning of ANGMU and work collectively for welfare of transporters and business community as well keeping in mind the sentiments of the common public. DCCI has requested all registered transporters and business community of Dimapur to cooperate with ANGMU.
