Alleged sexual assault of minor: Residency Colony organisations call for swift justice

Dimapur, June 9 (MExN): The Residency Colony Youth Organisation (RCYO), Residency Colony Council and Residency Colony Mother's Union have strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault and physical abuse of a minor girl in Dimapur and demanded strict action against those accused in the case.

In separate statements, the organisations called for a swift, transparent and impartial investigation and urged law enforcement agencies to ensure that all accused persons are prosecuted under the relevant provisions of the law without delay.

The RCYO also expressed concern over the arrest of Akangkokba Ao, Gaon Bura (GB) of Residency Colony, who has been named as the third accused in the case. It maintained that no individual, regardless of position or status, should be allowed to evade investigation, accountability or punishment if found guilty under the law.

Meanwhile, the Residency Colony Council and Residency Colony Mother's Union expressed "deep shame and regret" over the alleged involvement of a permanent resident of the colony in the case, stating that the incident has caused distress within the community.

The two bodies appealed to law enforcement agencies and the judiciary to ensure swift justice for the survivor and demanded that legal proceedings be fast-tracked. They further called for the strictest punishment permissible under the law for those found guilty.

The organisations also conveyed their solidarity with the survivor and her family and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting efforts aimed at ensuring accountability and securing justice in the case.
