Chümoukedima, April 4 (MExN): The Ao Lanur Telongjem Chümoukedima (ALTC) carried out its annual community service with a cleanliness drive at the Naga Cemetery, along with a remembrance of lives lost.
According to a press release, around 150 members participated in the cleanliness drive, which this year included a special tribute to five women -Yangerinla Ao, Bendangla Jamir, Lepzungsangla Pongen, Imtimenla Ao, and N Amongla Ao , who lost their lives in a bus accident on January 31, 2026.
The initiative coincided with Good Friday and was observed as a moment of collective reflection on sacrifice, faith, and community solidarity, the release said.
Dr Imtisangba Ao, Pastor of Ao Baptist Church Chümoukedima, also attended the event and offered prayers for comfort and strength. He emphasised the significance of honouring the departed while drawing hope and resilience from faith.
ALTC President Talisunep Walling stated that the initiative reflects the organisation’s commitment to social responsibility and spiritual reflection. Such efforts symbolise not only the restoration of spaces of remembrance but also a renewal of gratitude and humility, he added.
The Telongjem also acknowledged the participation of Ao Senso Telongjem Chümoukedima, Watsu Telen Chümoukedima, and Ao Students’ Union Chümoukedima in the community service. It further expressed gratitude to the Chümoukedima Town Council, led by Chairman Lhousito Khro, for providing refreshments to the volunteers.
The annual exercise, it added, highlighted ALTC’s continued commitment to community welfare while reinforcing values of compassion, resilience, and collective action.
