A motorcycle expedition, undertaken exclusively by the health fraternity of the Army Medical Corps (AMC), reached Dimapur via Kohima where a reception awaited the riders at Rangapahar Military Station on April 13.
The motorcycle team’s objective is to visit over 75 army and civil medical establishments, encompassing 4 Commands and 12 states, during the expedition in order to motivate frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19. Particularly in far flung areas of the country with the ethos of ‘Shoulders behind Soldiers.’
During the journey from Kohima, the motorcycle club of Tetso College also escorted the riders to their destination at the army base. Lt General RC Tiwari, AVSM, VSM and GOC of Spear Corps greeted the riders during the reception programme and also organised a flagging off ceremony for them towards their next destination.
The entire expedition is being organised to commemorate the 258th AMC Raising Day under the Directorate General of Medical Service (Army) and also to align with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. It may be also mentioned that the entire journey undertaken by the team will cover a distance of almost 10,000 km over a span of 20 days of driving time.
The team is led by Col Rajesh W Adhau who explained that their journey began from New Delhi on April 3. While riding to Nagaland, he stated that they arrived via Shillong-Silchar-Imphal road and moved towards Kohima in the morning. Further adding that the expedition team will move from Dimapur to Arunachal from where the expedition team will return back to Delhi. “We got a lot of love and good reception from the North-eastern states,” he concluded.
The expedition team consists of 3 spl officers, 2 med officers, 3 non-tech officers and 2 from other ranks along with 2 reserve members from the AMC.
Earlier in the morning at PR Hill Kohima, Abhijit Sinha, Home Commissioner of Nagaland, flagged off the team on their way towards Dimapur.
