Kohima | September 7 : In line with its commitment of providing a better life for the less privileged children, Amway opportunity Foundation (AOF) - the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India today presented annual educational aid for all children of Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home. Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home is AOF’s partner under Project Sunrise- an initiative aimed at the betterment of underprivileged children. Presently, the Kohima orphanage & Destitute Home house 77 children at present. This donation marks 3rd years of partnership with the Home under Project Sunrise.
A MoU was also signed today between the two as part of the continuation of the Project Sunrise. In a formal function commissioner & secretary for health and family welfare Menukhol John congratulated the Amway for their generous venture, adding that their approach of giving back to the society has made difference in the lives of children. On the other hand, he encouraged the children to study hard and be a good boys and girls and be God fearing children.
AOF had rolled out Project Sunrise in Kohima in 2009 and announced its partnership with Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home. To mark the beginning, AOF had presented annual educational sponsorship comprising tuition fee, school fee, transportation, school bag, books and stationery items.
Bickramjit Paul, Area Manager, Northeast Amway India said that the annual educational aid to the children of Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home is the sequel of AOF’s ongoing support for the children in health, education and access to safe drinking water under Project Sunrise .
The aim behind the Project Sunrise is to work in partnership with the NGOs and orphanages to ensure a bright future for the less privileged children and help them become economically self reliant. “At Amway we always strive to bring in meaningful difference in the lives of less privileged children. We would be very happy if our little contribution helps in the progress of children,” said Paul.
Neibanuo of Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home was appreciative of the Amway for their help and hoped that their assistance and good venture towards the Home will help build the children to become a responsible citizen tomorrow. She also expressed gratitude to Menukhol John for his affection and support to the Home in many ways.
Colo Mero, ABO also spoke on the occasion while the function was chaired by Sarbani Bhattacharya.
