ANCF appeals for unity and dialogue among Nagas

Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): The All Naga Catholic Federation (ANCF) reiterated its message of unity as a means to find a prevalent ground for Naga political solution, during a consultative meeting at Diocesan Social Service Society (DSSS) at Mantripukhri, Imphal on September 24 and 25.

The meeting witnessed a talk on ‘Peace and justice’ by Rev Fr Dr TS Dominic and ‘Updating and deliberation on the Naga peace process,’ according to a press delayed release.

Appealing for unity, the ANCF stated that the Nagas need to talk to each other and find a prevalent ground to bestow support to a pact that realistically constitute the non-negotiable position for an inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution based on the unique history and situation of the Nagas.

It said that the Nagas currently seem to be living in a “‘Caged societies,’ planted and nurtured by the ideological, organizational and politico-administrative territorial divides, exasperated by the propensity to foster an overriding loyalty to one's own ethnic and chronic tribal communities.”

The ANCF affirmed that it firmly stood on the bedrock of Naga political movement and historical rights and asserted its belief that “Nagas are one” and the “only way forward is to settle differences through dialogue within the Naga family and to be unified in common purpose by agreeing to intersect at a Non-negotiable locus for recognition of the identity of the Nagas as epitomised in the Flag, Constitution and fidelity to the Naga ancestral homeland.” It also asserted that the Naga struggle for self-determination is a “collective birthright that is irrevocable on all of us.” It also opined that the struggle should be sacrosanct and put above all the Naga organizations and the leaders and reiterated that unity is of utmost importance for an inclusive and honourable Naga political solution.

The ANCF further, made a fervent appeal to the Government of India to be extra sincere and hard-nosed towards an honourable and acceptable solution to the on-going Nag political dialogue. It also urged the Naga people to work in the best interest of Naga people as a whole irrespective of their sizes and borders.
