ANCSU demands early release of Post Matric Scholarship 2nd phase

Kohima, September 15 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has appealed to the Government of Nagaland for the early sanction and disbursement of the second phase of the Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for Scheduled Tribe students for the academic year 2024–2025.

In a letter addressed to the Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, ANCSU said it was “constraint to appeal matter concerning to the disbursement of Post Matric Scholarship ST 2nd phase for the academic year 2024-2025.”

The Union acknowledged the Department’s role in engaging with the concerned Ministry and prioritising the disbursement of the first phase of PMS ST to 22,000 students in June 2025. However, it said “the remaining students are earnestly anticipating the funds to meet their academic needs” and highlighted that “the majority of students in the state belong to the economically weaker section that honestly rely on these funds to pay their tuition fees hostel fees and other essential academic expenses.”

ANCSU appealed to the Minister to “give serious consideration to this pressing matter and immediately Intercede with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India for the early sanction and disbursement of 2nd phase Post Matric Scholarship ST for the year 2024-2025.”

It further stated, “We place our confidence in your ability to take necessary steps to address this issue promptly, as the delay in disbursement of scholarship to the students will only Invite retaliation from the students’ community.”
