Kohima, August 20 (MExN): The All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association (ANEFWA) has submitted ultimatum to the chief engineer power for consideration and compliance of the charter of demands.
The ultimatum stated that the matter for second phase post creation and regularization of 381 posts of various category under power department have been forwarded to the government. However, it said till now without any valid reasons, the same have not been considered. The Association said that inspite of repeated representations, the matter for filling up vacancies of various posts under power department have not been filed up due to which the field workers are over burdened with extra workloads. The ultimatum said inspite of repeated representations, the risk allowance of workcharge employees under power department have been granted @ Rs. 50 only till date, not identical with the regular employees @ Rs. 300.
“It is pertinent to mention that the nature of work and the risk involved faced by the regular employee and workcharge employees are same. Therefore, there is an obligation on the part of the government to grant risk allowance of workcharge @ identifical to the regular employees,” the Association said adding it also learned that the government opines that the risk allowance is mean only for the medical department and suggesting to struck down the present rate of risk allowance enjoyed by the employees concerned. The same is violative of the standing ROP Rules as such any executive action violative of the rule made under Article 309 of the Constitution cannot be compromised in any circumstances by members of this Association.
The Association also stated that due to heavy price rise the present rate of uniform allowance is not sufficient to stitch the infirm of the most inferior quality for field workers, for which it demanded that the present rate of Rs. 500 be enhanced to Rs. 700. Viewing of the facts as stated, the Association said that it compelled to submit the instant ultimatum for meeting the charter of demands within a period of 30 days “failing which the Association have concertedly resolved on 17/08/2011 during its executive emergency meeting that it shall take its own course of action after the expiry of stipulated period of time given herein.” The ultimatum was signed by ANEFWA president Panger Pongen and joint secretary N. Lotha.
