There was another report of a clash between cadres of the NSCN-K (Yung Aung) and NSCN-K (Ang Mai Mulatonu) in the Naga Self-Administered Zone (NSAZ), Saigaing, Myanmar. The shootout reportedly occurred near the Khanti (Hkamti) township on the morning of January 12.
According to reliable sources, the Ang Mai-Mulatonu cadre attacked a camp of the rival Yung Aung early in the morning. Mortars were reportedly used in the alleged assault. There were conflicting reports on the outcome with both sides claiming to have inflicted casualty on the other.
The sources, citing information posted by the Ang Mai-Mulatonu group on its social media handle, said that it was a reprisal to the January 9 assault by the Yung Aung group on the former’s camp near Pangsaung town. Two Ang Mai-Mulatonu soldiers were reported killed in that assault.
