The 12th triennial convention of Angami Catholic Union (ACU) entered its second day as thousands gathered at Christ the King Church, Kohima on Saturday to fellowship. The three-day triennial conference will culminate with a Eucharist with Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima Diocese as the main celebrant, starting at 9:30 am on Sunday.
ACU Advisor, R Rocus Chasie shared on the topic, ‘History of the Catholic Church.’ He gave a detailed insight into the tumultuous history of the Catholic Church and the hopes for reconciliation between the major sects.
ACU Ecclesiastical & Parish Priest, Rev Dr Fr Solomon Visosieo Vizo spoke on the topic, ‘Eucharist the Source and Summit of Christian Life.’ He said all blessings come through the Eucharist which begins from the day of baptism in the life of a Catholic. If we are to live the life God intends us to live then we have to follow the sacraments taught to us by Jesus, he said. As Catholics we need fully understand the real meaning of the Eucharist according to the way it was intended for us, Fr Solomon said.
Choirs from Angami Catholic Youth Association and Chakhro Angami Catholic Union presented special numbers during the services.
Afternoon service was led by Northern Angami Catholic Union (NACU), president, Viyie Peter, while in the evening session was led by Kohima Town Region ACU, President Meyacalie Marcus.
