DIMAPUR: The All Nagaland School Teachers Association has urged the Finance Department for early release of pending salaries to SSA teachers. A press note from ANSTA informed that in the early part of April 2014, the State Mission Authority (SMA) SSA along with the Department of School Education had remitted the required amount (more than 23 Crores ) to the Finance department for payment of pending salaries and arrears of SSA teachers till February 2014.
However, it lamented that till date, the remitted amount has not been released by the Finance department. “As a result, SSA teachers could not be paid for the last 4 months (Dec. 13 to March 14) which compelled them to serve 15 days ultimatum to government,” it stated.
“The only sustaining source of teachers should not be utilized for other purpose,” stated ANSTA and reminded the authority that SSA teachers have been recruited as per the requirement of the state government and through proper channels by observing all formalities. It stated that when funding agencies (SMA & DoSE) have already remitted the amount for payment of pending salaries and arrears of the concerned teacher, “there is no reason why remitted amount is not releasing.” “Since the ball is in the court of Finance Department, if any unwanted situation crops up due to non-release of pending salaries and arrears, it shall be held accountable,” the ANSTA cautioned.
