Hundreds of people participated in the candlelight vigil organised by the ABAM in Mokokchung on July 9.

Mokokchung, July 10 (MExN): On July 9, the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) staged a candlelight vigil in Mokokchung's main square as part of a prayer for peace in Manipur. The candlelight vigil was conducted in support of the people of Manipur, who are through a period of terror, famine, and fatalities that is unprecedented.
While addressing the crowd, ABAMs Executive Secretary, Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, stated that though it is impossible to be present with them in person, prayers are being sent out to convey that ABAM is supporting them during their ordeal.
Ao Senden , Watsü Mungdang, other tribal unions and associations, members of Ao Baptist Churches around Mokokchung and willing citizens from all walks of life participated in the candlelight vigil programme.
The Executive Secretary of ABAM also noted that the same program is held in all 127 Ao Baptist churches and 13 fellowships that are part of the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang because inviting all the churches to participate in it would be practically unfeasible.
Snippets of what was happening in Manipur were shown to the crowd. Prayers were said, and the group sang "we shall overcome" as they concluded.
The candlelight vigil programme witnessed a gathering of people in hundreds.
