
DIMAPUR, NOV 4 (MExN): The Ao Senden today passed a four-point resolution during the concluding day of its Silver Jubilee which was held over two days beginning yesterday. According to information received, the apex tribal body of the Aos resolved that it would support any Naga political solution which was acceptable to all sections of the people. It also resolved that the Aos with their rich cultural heritage of upholding truth and honesty should continue to be practiced. The Ao Senden will also take up on priority basis a detailed study of the soil and climatic condition of the region. For this, it would bring in experts to conduct seminars and workshop and scientifically analyze what crops are feasible for cultivation in the region. The Ao Senden also decided to go ahead with the construction of an office building inclusive of a library, conference hall and other facilities.
Earlier in the day, former Chief Minister of Nagaland and present Goa Governor SC Jamir addressing the silver jubilee as the Chief Guest, urged people to come out of their helplessness created by doubt and fear and to speak out the truth. Pointing out that this was the right time to deliberate on the future of the Nagas, Jamir said the need of the hour was to create an atmosphere where one was not afraid to speak the truth. “Scarcity of truth is the biggest disease that prevails in our society today and without truth, we will be dwarfed. Today we are afraid not of God but humans; we are a coward tribe, and the church can do nothing”, Jamir said.
Minister for School Education Imkong L Imchen who was the Guest of Honour maintained that the Aos should come forward when it comes to uplifting peace in the State. “We should be the heralder of peace and this should be one of the points of the silver jubilee resolution”, Imchen said. Other who spoke included Agriculture Production Commissioner Alemtemshi and Prof. Dr Lanunungsang, Dean Nagaland University, Lumami.
