Peren, March 25 (MExN): In Peren district, World TB Day event was organized by Legacy Explorers, Jalukie in collaboration with District Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) Peren at PEN Hall, Jalukie town. Masangum, PS to Minister Planning & Coordination was the chief guest. Participants were Village Council members, NGOs, students and District Medical Officials.
Dr.Yartenla Jamir, DTO (RNTCP) welcoming all the participants encouraged everyone to come forward and support the cause.
Dr. Tiala Longkumer gave a brief talk on why World TB Day is observed and its significance. She highlighted that the main aim will be to reach the unreached areas in the district and appealed to all the members and field workers present to give their full support and cooperation in carrying out the task. She also highlighted on the causes of TB, how to detect and its preventive measures. A TB patient on medication should take complete course of treatment, she stated. She also stressed on the emergence of Multi- Drug Resistant (MDR) TB, adding prevention is better than cure and TB is curable and preventable.
Exhorting the gathering, Masangum said that to make a difference, majority is not required, but even minority can make a big difference, stating it applies in tackling and preventing TB. He urged the public not to be afraid but, be aware and join hands in eradicating the killer disease.
Solidarity speech was also given by Zeliangrong Baudi, Nagaland. The present TB scenario in Peren District was also highlighted by Christy, STS, RNTCP Peren. The program concluded with solidarity prayer by Pastor, JTLBC, Mongzeung Mpom.
