A stretch of poor road leading to new Naga Cemetery at Zani village.
Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): The new Naga Cemetery at Zani village was inaugurated at the right time when the space at the old site was running out and the apprehension of the lack of space to bury COVID-19 related deaths was a huge concern.
However, Hukuto Khulu, GB, Bamunpukhuri ‘A’ village in a press release stated that the absence of proper road leading to the cemetery has become the biggest concern after the commissioning of the new cemetery. “Although the new site is well maintained, there is hardly anything to be called a ‘road’ that leads to it,” Khulu stated.
The road is most deplorable especially within the 2km stretch falling within the jurisdiction of Bamunpukhuri ‘A’ village, it stated.
The GB also pointed out that at times even ambulance and robust vehicles like Mahindra Bolero coming to and fro the new cemetery are stuck in the mud and huge potholes. Excavators had to be used to pull out the stuck vehicles. “Such incidences add salt to the injury of the already grieving families and others accompanying them,” he added.
Therefore, on behalf of the residents of Bamunpukhuri ‘A’ village, the GB has requested the concerned authorities to look into the matter and construct the road leading to the cemetery in the interest of the larger public.
