AR conduct events in Khelma village

Peren, March 19 (MExN): Assam Rifles organized various events in Khelma, one of the remotest villages in Peren district, to help the people of the village as well as the neighbouring areas.  

One of the events was a medical camp, where checkup and medicines were provided for free. A total of 348 patients were treated, of which pregnant women and aged people were mostly benefitted, according to a press release.  

Meanwhile, nearly 210 villagers took medicines for their pets during a free veterinary counseling camp organized by the Assam Rifles. Free checkup and counseling were given by Dr. Yovino, VAS, Jalukie.  

Villagers were also counseled and educated on AIDS by Dr. Rovikheto, DPO, Peren.  

Assam Rifles medical team along with PHC Athibung also conducted free TB, malaria, HIV and HB tests for the locals.  

Assam Rifles also established a refreshment point to provide ease to the villagers who had travelled from far villages to attend the camps, the release said.  

Meanwhile, people of Khelma region requested AR to project their demand for erecting a mobile tower in the region for the masses. In this regard, Athibung Post Commander started a signature campaign to bring the issue to the telecom companies’ attention. A total of 850 villagers appended their signatures, the release added.

  Public of Khelma, Shelum, New Nkoi and Ikesingram while thanking the Assam Rifles and health department for the various programmes also requested the AR to conduct such events frequently so that the remote area villagers can utilize the essential services of life.
