Kohima, March 27 (MExN): Assam Rifle battalions under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted various activities on March 25 and 26. 

The Kohima battalion organised a drawing and painting competition for children at Kohima Garrison, Old Ministers' Hill and Kezo town, Kohima under the theme ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ on March 26. A total of 59 children staying in Kohima Garrison, 22 students of Cimorb Public School and 431 students of Ministers' Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School participated in the event. 

Chieswema battalion carried out a run for fun drive and organised display board making at ARPS, Chieswema, Kohima under the theme ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ on March 26. Altogether 30 students and 15 parents of ARPS, Chieswema took part in the programme. 

Meanwhile, Phek battalion installed 12 solar street lights under the civic action projects at New Thewati, old Thewati, Washello and Lacham village, Phek district. 

Dimapur battalion installed six solar streets lights at Dhansiripar village on March 25. It was installed under Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme Project and handed over to the village authorities. 

The Jalukie battalion inaugurated of gymnasium facility at Athibung town, Peren district on March 26. The Jalukie battalion also conducted a meeting with the all chairman and GBs of Tenning, Peren district concerning the Lamhainamdi incident on March 26. HQ IGAR (North) in a press release stated that the meeting focused on maintenance of peace. It was also attended by villagers from nearby villages and all agreed to continue peace and law and order in the area.
