AR conducts civic activities across Nagaland

Kohima, March 28 (MExN): Different battalions of Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised various activities across Nagaland. Press releases from HQ IGAR (N) informed that the activities included competitions, provision of utility items, and medical assistance among others. 

Mon: The Mon Battalion organised a Silver zone International Olympiad 2021 for the students of ARPS Naginimora on March 25. 

The test for Mathematics and Science Olympiad was conducted earlier on January 23 and 25 respectively under the supervision and a total of 13 students were selected, registered and provided coaching for the Olympiad. 

The students won a total of 11 medals including 7 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. 100% marks was achieved by Sneha Sana who secured Rank 1 in the entire NE Zone in her category, informed HQ IGAR (N). 

Peren: The Jalukie Battalion provided medical assistance to a 4 year-old boy suffering from severe burn injuries on his right arm in Tening Village under Peren district on March 27.

Meanwhile, the Battalion also organized a trekking expedition to mount Pauna in Peren under the theme ‘Hum Fit Toh India Fit’ on March 27. A total of 132 youths from Zeme Students Union Nagaland (ZSUN), Peren Town Youth Organisation (PTYO), NCC Cadets, Contruction Industries Development Council (CIDC) and Peren Government College took part in the trekking expedition. The camp was conducted under the Government of India initiative of ‘Fit India Healthy India’.

The Battalion in collaboration with Veterinary College Jalukie also conducted a Veterinary camp at Lilen Kuki and Phaijolvill of Athibung subdivision on March 27.  

Dimapur: The Dimapur Battalion donated ration including rice, atta, dal, sugar etc as an immediate relief measure to a family whose house was gutted in an accidental fire in Kushiabil village, Dimapur on March 27.

 The fire took place in the evening of March 25 wherein the entire house and household items were completely burnt and the family is being assisted to set up their new home with help of the villagers and AR Company deployed nearby, said HQ IGAR (N).

Meanwhile, the Ghaspani Battalion also conducted an Anti Drug Campaign at different places in Dimapur on March 26 and 27. 

An awareness programme about drug and alcohol abuse and rehabilitation facilities available was conducted. An interactive session was also conducted with students in Dimapur rehab centre in Sovima near 6th Mile. The students were told about the prospects in Security Force and also about the free courses available at different institutions funded by state/central government schemes. 

A seminar on drug abuse was also conducted for the villagers of Kukidolong and Jharnapani. Imkong, a trained Psychologist from Prodigal's Home Rehab Centre delivered a lecture on drug abuse and role of a Psychologist. Around 20 people undergoing rehab at Prodigals Home also shared their experiences from being a drug addict to their rehabilitation phase and how it changed their lives at the seminar. 

Tuensang: The Shamatore Battalion provided assistance at an accident site where a Bolero pick-up reportedly skidded off the road at Kuthur village in Tuensang on March 26. Five passengers who were severely injured were administered immediate medical attention and subsequently evacuated to the Government Hospital Tuensang with the help of a vehicle passing by. Rest of the injured passengers were also provided first aid and later moved to Tuensang Government Hospital.

Kohima: The Kohima Battalion organised a drawing and painting competition under the theme ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ for students of St Xavier's School Kidima, Kohima on March 27. A total of 156 students from the schools participated in the competition.

The Battalion also provided four sewing machines, two washing machines, one wooden cupboard cum rack and one dining table to Bright Morning Star Children Home, Kohima, on March 27 under its Civic Action Project. 

In addition, it provided six foot pedal sewing machines, three electric sewing machines, two office tables, two almirahs with glass doors, 10 study tables and 10 chairs to Tabitha Enabling Society in Kohima on Saturday under the same project.
