AR recovers ammo cache in pre-dawn raid at Dimapur

DIMAPUR, APRIL 13 (MExN): A huge cache of ammunitions, alongwith two firearms were recovered from a house on the outskirts of Dimapur on Friday, April 13. According to inputs received from reliable sources, troopers of the 20th Assam Rifles raided one house located somewhere in Seithekima, in a pre-dawn operation. The house was said to be the private residence of one Yarteo, a ‘colonel’ in the NSCN-IM, the sources said.

During the raid, the AR recovered a huge cache of ammunition said to run into a few thousand rounds, of various calibres, alongwith one .303 rifle and a 9 mm pistol. Thirteen cadres of the NSCN-IM, who were found in the house, were disarmed and taken into custody. The arrested cadres were led by a ‘captain’, the sources said. The ‘colonel’ was not home at the time of the AR raid, the sources added.

The Superintendent of Police, Dimapur later confirmed the report in the evening. The AR handed over to police 13 men of the NSCN-IM caught during an early morning raid conducted somewhere in Seithekima. They also handed over arms and ammunition confiscated during the raid, the SP said.
