Kohima| December 13: In another nonchalant attitude of the uniformed paramilitary force, a 69 years old Naga man was hit by a Bolero bearing registration number NL05E-6784 at Phoolbari Kohima this afternoon. Dr. Kevi from Oking Research Centre, where the victim was rushed for medical help, said no external injuries were found. However detail report will be known after x-ray examination, he said. According to a ‘vigilant volunteer’ of Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) who witnessed the entire scene said that, the old man waved his hand to cross the road but the driver paid no heed and came in force leaving the old man injuring his feet. The volunteers immediately gathered and tried to stop the vehicle. The driver tried to flee but was later apprehended.
The accused was taken to North Traffic Police station but was later released after the family of the victim and the Assam Rifles came to a compromise.
