Kohima, March 5 (MExN): The Indian Army has invited online applications from eligible unmarried male candidates from Nagaland and Manipur for Agniveer Recruitment 2027 under the Agnipath scheme.
The recruitment process will be conducted by the Army Recruiting Office (ARO), Rangapahar.
According to an official notification, online registration began on February 13 and will remain open until April 1, 2026. Candidates can submit their applications through the official portal, www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Authorities have advised aspirants to regularly check the website for updates or any changes in schedule.
The Online Common Entrance Examination (CEE) is tentatively scheduled between June 1 and June 15, 2026, while final examination dates will be announced later on the official website.
The recruitment drive aims to select candidates for various categories under the Agniveer entry scheme, including Agniveer (General Duty), Agniveer (Technical), Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper Technical and Agniveer Tradesmen.
Candidates applying for Agniveer (General Duty) must have passed Class 10 with at least 45 per cent aggregate marks and 33 per cent in each subject. For Agniveer (Technical), applicants should have passed Class 12 with Physics, Mathematics and English with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks, or possess relevant technical qualifications such as ITI or diploma in specified fields.
For Agniveer Clerk/Store Keeper Technical, candidates must have completed Class 12 in any stream with 60 per cent aggregate marks and at least 50 per cent in each subject, including English and Mathematics or Accounts. The Tradesmen category requires either a Class 10 or Class 8 qualification, depending on the specific trade.
The age eligibility for all categories ranges between 17½ and 22 years. Candidates born between July 1, 2005 and July 1, 2009 are eligible to apply.
The selection process will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will consist of the Online Common Entrance Examination, which will be conducted in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali and Marathi, among others.
Candidates who qualify the written examination will be shortlisted for the second phase, which includes a recruitment rally conducted by the Army Recruiting Office. During the rally, candidates will undergo a Physical Fitness Test, Physical Measurement Test and Medical Examination.
The physical fitness test will include a 1.6 km run, pull-ups, a nine-foot ditch jump and a zig-zag balance test. Prescribed physical standards such as height, chest and weight will also apply for each category.
Under the Agnipath scheme, selected candidates will serve in the Indian Army as Agniveers for a period of four years. During this period, they will receive a structured salary package starting at Rs 30,000 per month in the first year, increasing annually to Rs 40,000 in the fourth year.
At the end of the four-year engagement, Agniveers will receive a Seva Nidhi package of approximately Rs 10.04 lakh, comprising their own contribution and a matching contribution from the government, excluding interest.
In addition, Agniveers will be provided a non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹48 lakh during their service. Risk and hardship allowances, along with travel and dress allowances, will also be applicable as per existing Army rules.
Based on organisational requirements and performance during service, up to 25% of each batch of Agniveers may be selected for permanent enrolment into the regular cadre of the Indian Army.
The Army reiterated that recruitment into the service is completely fair, transparent and strictly based on merit. Authorities warned candidates against falling prey to fraudulent agents promising recruitment in exchange for money.
Candidates must register online through the official website and pay an examination fee of Rs 250 per category through digital payment methods. Applicants are required to provide valid Aadhaar details, active mobile numbers and email addresses for communication during the recruitment process.
Officials advised candidates to carefully check eligibility criteria and keep all necessary documents ready before applying. The recruitment drive is expected to attract a large number of aspirants from Nagaland seeking an opportunity to serve in the Indian Army under the Agnipath scheme.
