Around 600 teachers trained under Adolescence Education Programme

Kohima, August 28 (MExN): Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) in coordination with Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) conducted online training of teachers under Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) on August 25 and 27. It was attended by around 600 teachers of high schools and higher secondary schools from all the districts of Nagaland.

The training was conducted with the aim to enhance the understanding and skills of teachers to effectively address the adolescents at schools and empower them to make healthy choices, Dr K Vikato Kinimi, Project Director, NSACS stated in a press release. 

The sessions were comprised of different topics such as; HIV/AIDS and STI, growing up and Adolescence Reproductive Sexual Health, Current HIV scenario and prevalence in Nagaland, Overview of AEP in India and some best practices in other States, Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Life Skills for HIV prevention.

The resource persons were Sonal Walia, Consultant (IEC & MST), NACO, New Delhi; Metevinuo Sakhrie, Joint Director (IEC), NSACS; Thejangunuo Theunuo, Dy Director (IEC) NSACS;  Ainato Yeptho Dy Director (SPM) NSACS and Chongkoi Khaming, Assistant Director (MM). 

Puthenhenmei, AD (Youth Affairs) NSACS moderated the session while welcome address was given by Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, Secretary, NBSE; concluding remarks and vote of thanks was delivered by Asano Sekhose, Chairman, NBSE.
