Dimapur, March 28 (MExN): Days after the March 22 incident in Peren in which 3 persons were allegedly killed by armed assailants; condemnation was voiced by various organizations on Sunday.
CNTC: Central Nagaland Tribes council (CNTC) expressed shock over the incident and stated that such act deserves to be condemned by all the right thinking citizens. While condemning the incident, CNTC appealed all to refrain from escalating the issue and to refrain from any form of violence and bloodshed. “There is always a way of resolving any issue / differences in a peaceful manner,” it stated, and urged the state government to immediately act within the time frame; and befitting action be initiated against the wrong doers as per the law of the land. It also urged the government to strictly implement in toto, the directives of the government order to de-escalate the issue.
Liangmai Orgs: The Liangmai Organization and Liangmaipui Organization Peren Town on Sunday stated that the inhuman act is “not acceptable in any way.” It also took strong exception to the ‘notes’ allegedly left behind by the culprits and further claimed that ‘involvement of National Workers’ in the act cannot be denied.
It demanded the State government to immediately arrest the culprit and award befitting punishment at the earliest. It cautioned that in case of failure to do so, “the Ziangrong are ever ready to defend ourselves... for which we will not be held responsible.”
Lotha Hoho: The Lotha Hoho termed the act as a breach of the hard earned peaceful co-existence in the State that the tribes of Nagaland had been advocating all these years. We strongly believe that there is nothing in the society that cannot be solved by dialogue or negotiation, it reasoned and appealed the State government to expeditiously investigate into the crime and punish the perpetrators without fear or favor.
It also suggested the government to come out with a mechanism or policy to put an end to occurrence of such incidents where land disputes are prone to occur, especially in Dimapur area.
NGTC: The Nagaland Garo Tribal Council (NGTC) condemned the killings and appealed to right thinking citizens to condemn the act. It also urged law enforcement agencies to book the culprits at the earliest and award stringent punishment.
NKK: The Nzaulun Kebaikam Kelung (NKK) while condemning the incident appealed the State government and its law enforcement agencies to arrest the culprits at the earliest and award befitting punishment.
PSU: The Peren Students Union (PSU) on Sunday sent a message to ‘the perpetrators and alike’ that it shall not be intimidated by any such acts further.
Such an atrocious act has the grave potential to foster another form of bloodshed and confrontation among the Naga communities, it stated and cautioned against such acts occurring again, lest it be left with no option but to go “all out” on the perpetrators.
The formation and the survival of the Naga national movement is fed by the public mandate, it added, referring to the claims of involvement of ‘national workers’ in the violence.
It also questioned the sincerity of the government stating that “no concrete efforts by the government and the administration,” to look into the long-pending conflict has been seen.
ZNCM, ZSOM: The Zeme Naga Council Manipur (ZNCM) and Zeme Students' Organisation Manipur (ZSOM) condemned the incident and strongly urged the Nagaland government to book the culprits without delay.
