Arrest warrants against two top NSCN-IM leaders have been issued with regard to the kidnapping and the subsequent murder of the two Senapati children Hriini Hubert and Muheni Martin, according to an Imphal based English newspaper.

The Sangai Express reported in its edition today that since the NSCN (IM) has refused to hand over the three accused, kept in the outfit’s custody in Dimapur, to the Manipur Police, the Manipur Government has moved the Court and obtained warrants of arrest against the Kilo Kilonser (Home Minister) of NSCN (IM) Puni and Deputy Kilonser of the MIP, Kraibo Chawang.

The warrants against the two accused were issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Senapati on Monday, according to the Imphal based newspaper. “The officer explained that arrest warrant against the third accused, Adai was not obtained as the State Police do not have details about his involvement in the said case,” said the daily, adding, “the Court will also be moved soon to declare Brown Tangkhul and Manikho as proclaimed offenders in a few days time, said the police officer and added action such as attaching their properties will be taken until they surrender”.

Motive to sabotage peace process: NSCN (IM)

Dimapur | April 11

The NSCN-IM spokesman while reacting to the reports of arrest warrants issued on NSCN-IM MIP Deputy Kilonser Kraibo Chawang and its Home Minister Puni, has said that the motive of the Manipur government has been to sabotage the Naga peace process.

Talking to Newmai News Network tonight, the outfit’s MIP deputy Kilonser Kraibo Chawang said that so many criminal activities are going on in and around Senapati but the government of Manipur could not do anything and also that when the two Senapati children were kidnapped there was hue and cry and the general public were furious but the Manipur government had turned a blind eye to the episode. “But when the NSCN keeping its maximum effort arrested some accused the Manipur government was embarrassed because of its inefficiency,” said Kraibo Chawang. He went on to say that if the Manipur government wants to talk about the handing over of the accused of the Senapati murder case then it should be done officially.

“Why did the Manipur government straight away issue arrest warrant against us,” questioned Kraibo.

He said that the Manipur government has the ulterior motive on the issuing of arrest warrant on them. The NSCN-IM leader said that things should be officially done and that the matter should be discussed officially and not just simply issuing arrest warrant to get the accused. He further informed that the matter of the reported issuing of arrest warrant against him and the NSCN-IM Home minister will be tabled in the next round of talks between the GOI and the NSCN-IM. He added that the talk will be held soon.
