ARSU questions PWD department  on road construction in Yingshükur

Kiphire, April 13 (MExN): The Amahator Range Students Union (ARSU) questioned absence of PWD Road & Bridges Department officials at the site of the ongoing road construction under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Yingshükur village, Kiphire.

The union had conducted spot verification multiple times but surprisingly no department officials were present at the construction side, the ARSU stated in a press release.

Accordingly, the union cautioned that if “any misunderstanding arises in the course of work,” the department would held solely responsible as no department officials were present during the spot inspections.

It further questioned why the department is adamant on the road construction despite knowing that there are “many disputes between villagers and contractor.”
The union further questioned the timeline of for the completion of the road construction, further informing that the PWD R&B Kiphire reportedly responded that is no DPR for the ongoing work when inquired.

This is very unfortunate, the Union stated, further urging the concerned department to “act fast” and complete the construction as per deadline stipulated in the work order.

The ARSU also appealed the concerned contractor to execute the work according to the criteria given in work order.

If the quality of work is not good and the construction is not completed on time, the Union would be compelled to “take its own course of action,” added the ARSU in the press release issued by its President, Selikyu T Sangtam and General Secretary, Athrong.
