The Department of Art and Culture, Kiphire organised ‘book display corner’ in commemoration of the 250 birth anniversary of Raja Ram Mohan Roy at District Library Kiphire on June 6.
During the occasion, P Yongwe Wumnok, District Cultural Officer (DCO) shared the significance of the day. Calling upon the gathering the DCO said, Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a social reformer who has vision for the nation whose vision has great impact in all front of social upliftment.
‘Even the remote corner of the state has library for people to r ad and learn and is all because of the far sighted vision he has,” the officer said. He also informed the gathering that the book corner will be there throughout the week and ask the gathering to make use of it.
EE PHED Akok who also spoke on the occasion congratulated the department for opening a space for citizens to have opportunity to spend time reading books.
