Kigwema, August 14 (MExN): A team led by VAS Jakhama Dr Menguzenuo Chielie conducted disinfection and containment measures in African Swine Fever (ASF)-affected farms at Kigwema and Mitelephe villages on August 14.
The team, comprising paravets from Veterinary Dispensary and VHC Kigwema, implemented control measures following the declaration of both villages as infected zones by Kohima Deputy Commissioner.
As per the DIPR report, addressing the village leaders and farmers, Dr Chielie highlighted the importance of the ASF guidelines and informed that both villages have been declared infected zones by DC Kohima.
She stressed the importance of community cooperation and prompt reporting to contain the outbreak effectively.
Officials recalled that a block-level and awareness training on ASF was previously conducted on July 15, with participation from representatives of all villages under Jakhama block.
