Guwahati, November 23 (MExN): Eleven years since its establishment, Assam down town University (AdtU) has successfully served as the “gateway for professional and personal development for student,” not only the North East but also from the rest of India and neighbouring countries, the University maintained in a statement.
Located at Panikhaiti, Chandrapur, and promoted by the down town Charity Trust, the multi-disciplinary university was established in the year 2010 to “respond to the need for high-quality education at an affordable cost for the people of the NE region,” it said.
Aligning with the Trust’s vision of uplifting all sections of people, AdtU has strive to promote collaborative programmes for the upliftment of intellectual and cultural capital of the region so that deserving candidates are not deprived of higher education, it added.
As a part of the vision, the university informed that diverse scholarship schemes are made available as a regular feature during the admission season, and cater to a wide section of the societies.
All semester fees are waived off for students belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) category while under Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, fees are marginally waived off for students from minority communities and SC, ST, OBC communities, it informed.
Meritorious students securing 80% to 90% and above in Board and University Examinations get the benefit some semester fees waivers, it added.
Recently, the AdtU also instituted a scheme to provide financial assistance to candidates who have been orphaned due to COVID-19, but wished to continue their studies, it informed.
Recognized by the UGC, AICTE, and accredited by NAAC, the university offers world-class infrastructure, 70+ labs, and access to more than 60 disciplines and 250+ teaching faculty, the statement further highlighted.
The AdtU has been certified and recogniszed by various other governmental and non-governmental organisations and associations such as SIRO, PCI, INC, IAP, and SGS-ISO 9001:2015 among others, it added. The placement record has been impressive at 90% between the years 2019 and 2020, it claimed.
