Dimapur, December 23 (MExN): The Assam Rifles conducted various civic action programmes across the state.
Free medical camp at Waziho village
A free Medical camp under “Operation Sadbhavana” was conducted at Waziho village, Phek District on December 23 by a medical team of 22 battalion Assam Rifles, Phek. Altogether 127 patients were examined and given medical assistance, stated a press release from Kedupa Venuh, Press Secretary, Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS). Medicines were distributed and knowledge on impact of health education and behaviors towards epidemic disease to the village community were imparted. The purpose of the medical camp was to provide medical assistance to such remote village that is devoid of medical facilities.
Lecture on govt schemes
Wokha Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted lecture on education for progression under the theme of “Lecture on Government Schemes” at Wokha on December 22.
During the interaction, details of various schemes and employment avenues for the young generation were discussed and shared for general awareness of the students and the local people.
Emphasis on pursuing further education for a bright future and also for the development of community, village and society was highlighted. Altogether, 35 locals attended the lecture.
Free medical camp at Longtho village
Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized a free medical camp at Longtho Village (Dessoi), Mokokchung District on December 22. The aim of the camp was to provide medicines and basic diagnosis to local population from all walks of life across all age groups. The medical camp was coordinated and conducted by Captain Saurav Dhand, RMO of Assam Rifles. A total of 129 patients including 37 male, 54 female and 38 children were screened and free medicines were distributed to the people requiring treatment.
Civic action progs at Chizami
9 Assam Rifles of 5 sector Assam Rifles conducted civic action programmes across Chizami sub-division. Programme like tours for school children, medical camps, sports events, recruitment training and coaching for Sainik School entrance exam were organized reaching out to remote areas. A press release from Ngonyi Lea, Chairman Tsupfume Village stated that 9 Assam Rifles donated wheel chairs to Chukhruvi Lea and Muliba Lea. This requirement for differently-abled person was a long pending issue and never addressed before, the release said.
While acknowledging the 9 Assam Rifle of 5 sector for serving the public, the village was hopeful that they will take up projects to address the problems of farmers in remote areas.
