Kohima Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted weapon and equipment display for children at Old Minister Hill and Kevi Children Home Lerie, Kohima on March 23.
Kohima, March 24 (MExN): The Assam Rifles (AR) Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted activities in Nagaland from on March 23 and 24.
The Kohima Battalion conducted weapon and equipment display for children at Old Minister Hill and Kevi Children Home Lerie, Kohima on March 23.
A demonstration on drills by dogs specially trained for explosive detection was also conducted. A total of 53 persons including 25 children attended the event.
Kiphire Battalion of AR constructed a play ground at Tsurevong village, Kiphire on March 24. Based on the request of village council, AR provided a JCB and technical staff for preparation of the play ground. The playground was inaugurated in the presence of council members and villagers.
The Kiphire Battalion also organised a poster making competition under the theme ‘Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat’ at Mt Horeb Baptist School, Pungro town, Kiphire on March 24. A total of 20 students participated in the event.
Chieswema Battalion of AR gifted four sewing and stitching machines to Lotha Eloe Hoho (NGO), Wokha under Assam Rifles Op Sadhbhavna Project on March 24. The machines were distributed by Zuchobeni Ezung, Chairperson Lotha Eloe Hoho in a ceremony attended by women of nearby villages and village community.
Tuensang Battalion of AR organised ex-servicemen rally to honour and commemorate their sacrifice and selfless service. A joint ex-servicemen rally of army and AR was conducted at Tuensang district on March 24.
The Sector Commander handed over household items to widows and also organised a medical camp for all ESM and their dependents. They also provided a computer set with accessories to ESM Office, Tuensang. A total of 121 ESM, widows and dependents attended the event.
Jalukie Battalion of AR conducted a lecture on career guidance and ways to join the defence forces at Peren Government College on March 24. A total of 68 students and six college lecturers attended the programme.
