Assam Rifles holds outreach drive for ex-servicemen in Kohima

The Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Centre, Kohima, organised an outreach drive under the initiative of the Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR), Shillong, at the Kohima Garrison Battalion on November 12.

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 14 (MExN): The Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Centre, Kohima, organised an outreach drive under the initiative of the Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR), Shillong, at the Kohima Garrison Battalion on November 12, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of veterans and next of kin (NOK) family pensioners.

A total of 85 veterans, veer naaris and NOK family pensioners from Kohima, Jalukie and Wokha districts under the Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association (ARESA), Kohima, took part in the programme.

The event was chaired by Merman Pradhan, President, ARESA Kohima, and Bobita Pradhan, Secretary, ARESA Kohima. Officers from the Veteran Cell, HQ DGAR Shillong, including 2IC R. Pathania and Assistant Commandant Sudeep Lama, interacted with participants and addressed grievances raised by ex-servicemen.

The outreach included sessions on ARESA initiatives, welfare policies and available grants, as well as a presentation on ECHS facilities by the Officer-in-Charge, ECHS Kohima. Representatives from SBI, ICICI and Axis Bank briefed attendees on financial and pension-related schemes.

As part of the welfare activities, the Commandant of the Kohima Garrison Battalion distributed two walking sticks and four hearing aids to elderly ex-servicemen and NOK pensioners.

More than 50 veterans availed themselves of the medical camp organised during the event, while 55 ex-servicemen registered on the Sampark Setu mobile app to improve access to veteran services.
ARESA Kohima and the participating veterans expressed gratitude to the Director General Assam Rifles and the Commandant, Kohima Garrison Battalion, for organising the outreach programme dedicated to the welfare of Assam Rifles veterans in the region.
